Colts' backup QB
MATT Hasselbeck signed a free-agent deal with the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday, a day after the 14-season National Football League quarterback was released by the Tennessee Titans. Hasselbeck, a starter for the Titans in 2011 served as a reserve last year, will become the backup for Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, who guided Indianapolis into the playoffs in his first NFL season. The Colts released star Peyton Manning, who later signed with the Denver Broncos, and took Luck with the top pick in last year's NFL draft. Hasselbeck, who was to have made US$5.5 million this year with the Titans, was a backup to Jake Locker last year but started five games for Tennessee after Locker suffered a shoulder injury. Hasselbeck threw for 1,367 yards with seven touchdowns and five interceptions last season.
