Dhoni banned for one match

SKIPPER Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been banned for one match due to India's slow over-rate in yesterday's 110-run loss to Australia in the limited-overs Tri-series.

International Cricket Council match referee Andy Pycroft ruled that India was two overs short of its target when time allowances were taken into consideration. He banned Dhoni for a match and fined the Indian skipper 40 percent of his match fee. Dhoni also missed the last test against Australia at Adelaide last month due to India's slow over-rate in the third match of that series, which Australia swept 4-0. In humid conditions in yesterday's day-night match in Brisbane, Australia blasted 100 runs in the last 10 overs to reach 288-5. India could only manage 178 in reply.
