Dilshan misses double century

SRI Lanka captain Tillakaratne Dilshan recorded his highest test score yesterday with 193 on the third day of the second cricket test against England at Lord's in London.

Dilshan batted for more than seven hours as Sri Lanka took its first innings total to 372 for three when rain stopped play midway through the afternoon session. England, which won the first test in Cardiff by an innings and 14 runs, compiled 486 in its first innings. Sri Lanka had resumed at 231-1 yesterday with Dilshan on 127. He lost Kumar Sangakkara for 26. Mahela Jayawardene, another former captain who has scored centuries in both his previous two Lord's tests, was on 40 when the rain came. Tea was taken half an hour early.
