Ding regains snooker form

ALTHOUGH Chinese player Ding Junhui gained only second place at the 2009 Snooker Grand Prix that finished in the early hours this morning, he regained his peak form and made a breakthrough.

Ding became depressed without a semi-final ranking in the past 37 months. He was almost delisted from the top 16 but after reaching the finals, he said he regained confidence, enjoyed snooker and had returned to his top form, Shanghai Morning Post reported today.

The 27-year-old Australian player Neil Robertson beat Ding 9-4 at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow in the early hours of today, Shanghai time.

Born in 1987, Ding won the China Open in March 2005 and became the first player from outside Britain or Ireland to win the UK Championship in December 2005.

He claimed his third ranking tournament win on 19 August 2006 at the Northern Ireland Trophy.

But Ding failed to reach a single semi-final after that.

Ding has climbed to No.9 in the ranking list after the match.
