China's diving queen gives birth to a boy

Chinese "diving queen" Guo Jingjing has given birth to a healthy baby boy earlier today, her husband announced on his micro blog.

Guo retired in 2011 after bagging a total of four Olympic gold medals and eight world titles.

Kenneth Fok, Guo's husband and eldest grandson of the late Hong Kong business tycoon Henry Fok, wrote on his Sina blog, "Dear friends, my and Jingjing's son was born this morning; he weighs 3.3 kilograms. Mother and son are safe and healthy."

He added, "Our families are very happy and joyful about this little miracle of life." Fok also thanked the doctors and nurses, as well as other relatives, friends and media reporters, indicating he will release a photo of the baby later.

Multi-Olympic gold winner Guo Jingjing tied the knot with Kenneth Fok in Hong Kong in November 2012 with lavish wedding ceremonies.

In June, there were reports saying the Fok family had given the couple a HK$200-million house near the Fok compound as a place for them to reside and raise their baby.
