SVEN-GORAN Eriksson was fired as manager of second-tier club Leicester on Monday after just over a year in charge. The former England manager took over in October 2010, two months after the club was taken over by a Thai-based consortium. Eriksson spent heavily in the offseason in an attempt to fulfil the new owners' goal of returning to the Premier League but the Swedish coach leaves with the team languishing in 13th place in the League Championship.
