Fallon beaten on return to racetrack

KIEREN Fallon finished second while riding co-favorite Rare Malt and was beaten by rival jockey Hayley Turner on a 20-1 shot on his return to British racing for the first time in more than three years.

The 44-year-old six-time champion jockey last rode on a British course in July 2006. He returned to action yesterday from an 18-month cocaine ban imposed in France and his appearance in a race-fixing trial, which finished in 2007. Although cleared of the charges, he was unable to ride.

Riding the 13-8 favorite, Fallon was beaten by Turner on Mr Mahoganeigh in the Withyham Median Auction Maiden Stakes at Lingfield Park.

One of the most successful jockeys, Fallon has three victories in the English Derby.
