Manchester City playmaker David Silva says his son is 鈥渇ighting day by day鈥 after being born prematurely.
The Spain international missed two of City鈥檚 four games to return to his native country. Silva thanked City for 鈥渦nderstanding my situation鈥 and said his son, Mateo, 鈥渨as born extremely preterm and is fighting day by day with the help of the medical team.鈥
City manager Pep Guardiola said Silva would be free to set his own schedule to deal with his situation. 鈥淔amily is the most important thing in life. It doesn鈥檛 matter if we drop a lot of points because he is not here. I will never push him.鈥
