Force tops ACT
DAVID Smith scored a pair of tries, including the clinching five-pointer with less than four minutes left, to give the Western Force a 27-19 win over the ACT Brumbies in Super 15 rugby in Canberra yesterday. James O'Connor also scored a Force try and kicked two conversions and two penalties to account for 15 points for the winners.
His opposite number, ACT flyhalf Matt Giteau, had all the home side's points, scoring the Brumbies' only try and kicking a conversion and four penalties. The result left the Brumbies with a one-point lead over the Force at the bottom of the Australian conference.
