THIRD-DIVISION club Unterhaching knocked SC Freiburg out of the German Cup with a 3-2 victory on Sunday. Freiburg is the fourth topflight team to be eliminated in the first round, after Bayer Leverkusen, Werder Bremen and VfL Wolfsburg. Title-holder Schalke routed seventh-tier team FC Teningen 11-1, but two Bundesliga clubs needed extra time to advance past lower-division opposition. Hoffenheim was a 3-1 winner over Germania Windeck and Mainz 5 downed SVN Zweibruecken 2-1. Germania Windeck plays in the sixth tier of German football, SVN Zweibruecken in the fifth.
