Gambhir sizzles as India clinches series
CAPTAIN Gautam Gambhir hit a quick century to help India complete a nine-wicket series-clinching victory over New Zealand in the third one-day international in Vadodara, western India, yesterday.
The left-handed opener struck 126 not out with 16 fours off 117 balls. India reached its target of 225 with more than 10 overs to spare and took an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series. It was the second consecutive ton and ninth overall in ODIs for Gambhir, who also scored an unbeaten 138 in the second ODI at Jaipur. Earlier, it took a gritty 72 not out by James Franklin to lift New Zealand to 224-9.
