Gayle onslaught

WEST Indies lefthander Chris Gayle has established an Australian Twenty20 record after finishing with an unbeaten 100 off just 54 balls in leading the Sydney Thunder to a six-wicket win over Adelaide in the Big Bash competition. The 32-year-old Gayle, who was courted by several Australian T20 franchises before signing with the Thunder, thumped 11 sixes, surpassing the previous record of eight sixes in a single T20 innings in Australia, to wrap up the win for the hosts with nine balls to spare at the former Olympic stadium. It came after Gayle scored only two runs off his first nine deliveries.
