German Cup in Asia on league agenda
BAYERN Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said yesterday that the German Super Cup could be played in Asia from as early as next season.
"We have had discussions with the DFL (German football league)," the former Germany striker was quoted as saying on the online edition of the sports weekly Sport Bild. "It (playing the Super Cup in Asia) is now on their agenda. If the executive committee makes a decision, it could be done in theory from next year." In August, Rummenigge said he thought it was possible to organize the match in China, although some Bundesliga clubs expressed doubts about the benefits of transferring the Super Cup out of Germany.
