Gold Coast, Port Adelaide in Shanghai return next year
Australian Football League sides Gold Coast Suns and Port Adelaide Power will return to Shanghai in 2018 for a regular-season game after facing off each other at the Jiangwan Stadium earlier this year.
Power beat the Suns by 72 points in the AFL’s first regular-season game outside its home nation and New Zealand in May. The game is among the Suns’ four relocated home matches, which will be moved as their ground, the Metricon Stadium, hosts the track and field events of next year’s Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. “With the direct exposure this will generate for the city, we look forward to enhancing the tourism, education and trade & investment opportunities for the broader Gold Coast,” Suns chief executive Mark Evans said in a statement.
