OXANA Slivenko of Russia won gold in the women's 69-kilogram division at the weightlifting world championships in Paris on Wednesday. The 2006 and '07 world champion lifted 118 kilos in the snatch and 148 in the clean and jerk for a 266 total. Xiang Yanmei of China attempted to hoist 151 kilos at her last attempt in the clean and jerk for a combined 267, but she failed and had to settle for silver. She lifted 116 in the snatch and 148 in the clean and jerk for a 266 total.
