Henan signs up Adelaide star
ADELAIDE United confirmed the departure of last season's A-League player of the year Marcos Flores yesterday, saying it could not compete with the wages offered by China's Henan Jianye.
The Argentine playmaker rejected an offer to become Adelaide's marquee player in favour of a move to central China on a three-year deal worth US$2.4 million. "It's obviously a sad day for Adelaide," Adelaide chairman Greg Griffin said. "It's very hard to compete with the money and conditions that are available in the Chinese Super League. All we can do is the best we can to keep players in South Australia."
