Mexico has confirmed Miguel “Piojo” Herrera will coach the national squad at the World Cup finals in Brazil next year. The team’s fourth coach since September, Herrera led Mexico to victory in last month’s intercontinental playoff against New Zealand, which they won 9-3 on aggregate. The stocky former national team defender’s appointment was announced after a Mexican Football Federation board meeting on Monday.
