Horse meat cited for lifting success
KAZAKHSTAN Olympic champion Ilya Ilyin says eating horse meat is the key to success in weightlifting.
The 24-year-old set two new world records in the men's 94-kilogram division on his way to a second successive Olympic title on Saturday and then advocated a diet of chicken - and horse. "I do believe food plays an important role in preparation for the Olympics or any competition," said Ilyin. "Chicken and horse meat are the best foods for weightlifters and good food is important." Ilyin has never been beaten in international competition. As well as his two Games gold medals he was won three world titles and the Asian Games crown in 2010.
