India whitewashes Kiwis in ODI series

INDIA whitewashed New Zealand 5-0 in their one-day international series by easily winning the final match by eight wickets in Chennai, south India, yesterday.

New Zealand suffered the ignominy of being dismissed by a second-string side for 103 in 27 overs, its lowest-ever score against India. In reply, India scored 107-2 off 21.1 overs with Parthiv Patel (56 not out) and Yuvraj Singh (42 not out) seeing the team through with ease. New Zealand's 11th consecutive loss in one-dayers included a shock 0-4 loss to Bangladesh in a five-match series before this tour. It was the second time India blanked an opposition after a similar 5-0 win over England in 2008.
