Kim sidelined with foot injury

Reigning Olympic figure skating champion Yu-na Kim will be sidelined for up to six weeks with a foot injury, a setback in her preparations for the Winter Games in Sochi.

South Korea’s Yonhap news agency, citing the Korea Skating Union, says Kim will miss two upcoming Grand Prix events after injuring the metatarsal on her right foot. Yonhap says that, according to a KSU official, the 23-year-old South Korean has been feeling pain in her right foot since mid-August. Kim, a two-time world champion, won the gold medal at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. She was looking to use upcoming Grand Prix events in Canada and Paris to tune up for the 2014 Games in Sochi, Russia, which run from February 7 to 23.
