Korir shocker
KENYA'S Japhet Korir pulled off a shock victory in the men's world cross-country race in Bydgoszcz, Poland, yesterday, striking early on the sixth and last lap to leave Ethiopia's defending champion Imane Merga in his wake. Korir, who was only sixth in the Kenyan trials, finished the gruelling, undulating 12-kilometer course around the Myslecinek Park in 32 minutes and 45 seconds.
