Laudrup steps down

MICHAEL Laudrup is to step down as coach of Real Mallorca after the former Denmark international clashed with the board of directors. Laudrup, 47, had expressed frustration with the recent transfer policy, which he felt left him short of forwards. His decision to leave followed the club's announcement on Monday that it had sacked the former Barcelona and Real Madrid midfielder's No. 2 Erik Larsen for criticizing the board's policies in the Danish media.
