THE Chinese mainland has welcomed the proposal to establish a cross-Strait baseball league with Taiwan, a mainland spokeswoman said yesterday. Fan Liqing, spokeswoman for the State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office, said the mainland is willing to increase cooperation and exchanges on athletics with Taiwan, where baseball has a longer development history.
