TED Ligety won the season-opening men's World Cup giant slalom yesterday with a massive 2.75-second lead over second-place Manfred Moelgg of Italy in Soelden, Austria. In difficult conditions due to fog and snowfall, Ligety finished the race on the Rettenbach glacier in an overall time of 2:36.02 seconds.
