Local fans in for a treat at Extreme Games
The 2014 Kia World Extreme Games will add a new event in Freestyle Moto X — International Ramp to Ramp Competition.
In its eight year, the games will be held at the KIC Jiangwan Sports Center in Yangpu District from April 30 to May 3, the organizers said yesterday.
Over 200 extreme sport athletes from 30 countries and regions will compete in five categories — BMX freestyle, aggressive in-line, skateboarding, speed climbing and international freestyle motocross competition. They will vie for US$250,000 in prize money.

Fans can also get up-close to their idols during the autograph sessions, or demonstrate their creativity in the Skateboard Design Contest.
Big names from the sport like Vince Byron, Pierre-Luc Gagnon, Mitchell Brusco, Yasutoko Brothers and Tom Schaar. skateboarder Andy MacDonald, defending champion of the Mimi-Mega Ramp and third place winner of Vert competition last year, will compete in Shanghai.
BMX legend Mat “The Condor” Hoffman will be present as an event ambassador.
A piece of artwork titled “Win-Wings,” which is made out of 100 recycled skateboards collected from all over the world, will be displayed during the Games.
A one-day ticket for regular seat costs 200 yuan (US$32.27) but can be had for 150 yuan by booking in advance. A grand seat costs 580 yuan.
