Low beats King in World Squash China Open
MALAYSIAN squash princess Low Wee Wern defended her championship title of the World Squash China Open last night in Shanghai with a 3:2 comeback win over Joelle King of New Zealand.
Low, 22, lost the first set 6:11 and soon equalized the game by winning the second set 11:4. But King, the No.1 player of New Zealand, took the lead again after winning the third set 11:3. The hard-bitten Low came back in the fourth set with 11:4 and got the final deciding set 11:9 with the boost.
"I was up and down, up and down but it was still a good week for me," King, 23, said on the China Open website.
The China Open this year attracted 12 of the world's top 20 squash players and prize money of US$50,000, local organizer said today.
