Matthew triumphs

Nick Matthew, the fourth-seeded Englishman, won the world squash title for the third time in four years when he beat Greg Gaultier, the world No. 2, by 11-9, 11-9, 11-13, 7-11, 11-2 in Manchester on Sunday. It was the fourth time Gaultier had lost in a worlds final, as he failed to emulate the 2004 achievement of Thierry Lincou, the only Frenchman so far to have won the world title. Matthew, aged 33, is only a few weeks younger than Geoff Hunt, the Australian who became the oldest male world champion when he won his last world title in 1980.
