DALLAS Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki has been awarded Germany's highest accolade for sport. German President Christian Wulff presented Nowitzki with the Silver Bay Leaf in Berlin yesterday.
Nowitzki led the Mavericks to this year's National Basketball Association championship over the Miami Heat and was named the series MVP. Nowitzki will play for Germany at the European Championship which starts tomorrow in Lithuania.
