Olympic champion banned
BEIJING Olympic champion Liao Hui of China has been suspended by the International Weightlifting Federation for three years for doping.
Liao was barred from competition until September 30, 2014, the IWF said on its website.
No other details were given, but the China Radio International said he failed a random urine test following the 2010 world championships in Antalya, Turkey, where he set two world records.
He will be stripped of those records and miss next year's London Olympics.
Liao won the gold medal in the 69kg category at the 2008 Beijing Games and at the 2009 and 2010 world championships.
Liao skipped major events including the Asian Games, the Asian championships and the 2011 world championships, saying a shoulder injury kept him out of the Chinese squad.
Along with Liao, another nine weightlifters were suspended.
