Pakistan posts 263

Opener Ahmed Shehzad hit 102 as Pakistan set South Africa a victory target of 263 in 45 overs to stay alive in the three-game one-day international series yesterday in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Shehzad’s third ODI hundred and a partnership of 124 for the third wicket with Sohail Maqsood (42) gave Pakistan a chance of a first series win over South Africa as the tourists posted 262 all out in the rain-shortened match. Pakistan won the first ODI at Cape Town on Sunday. Shehzad survived Dale Steyn’s (6-39) early onslaught at St. George’s Park, which removed Nasir Jamshed in the first over and Mohammad Hafeez for 8. Shehzad ran himself out needlessly in the 35th after being sent back by Umar Akmal, but Akmal finished strongly with 42 for a competitive total.
