Riesch leads Vonn overall, Maze wins

MARIA Riesch regained the lead in a tense chase for the overall World Cup title in Switzerland yesterday, finishing fourth in a slalom race won by Tina Maze of Slovenia.

Riesch earned 50 points and now has a three-point lead over Lindsey Vonn of the United States. Vonn, the three-time defending champion, had led her German rival by 27 but finished 13th in the final slalom of the season to score 20 points. The title will be decided in a giant slalom race today worth 100 points to the winner.
