Schalke's Super Cup

RALF Faehrmann, signed to replace Manuel Neuer as Schalke 04's goalkeeper, made a spectacular debut on Saturday, saving twice as his side beat Borussia Dortmund on penalties to win the German Super Cup in Gelsenkerchen.

Schalke, last season's Cup winner, won 4-3 on penalties after a goalless draw against its old foe Dortmund, the Bundesliga champion. Faehrmann, 22, ensured Schalke's win by saving penalties from Kevin Grosskreutz and Ivan Perisic. The Super Cup was officially reinstated by the German federation last year after a 14-year absence.
