Shanghai youth tournament

THE inaugural Shanghai Youth International Challenge Cup is being held at Shanghai Greenland Shenhua FC’s training base in Pudong from August 12 to 17. The tournament, jointly organized by the Shanghai Football Association, Shanghai Lucky Star FC and Shanghai Foyo Culture and Entertainment Company, features eight teams from home and abroad. Shenhua and Shanghai Lucky Star sent their youth teams to compete against their counterparts from the English Premier League, Italian Serie A, as well as the Portuguese, Brazilian, Korean and Japanese leagues. The final will be held at Pudong’s Yuanshen Stadium on Friday. “YICC aims at creating a high-level competition platform in Shanghai for young footballers,” said Lucky Star FC president Shen Si, a retired Shenhua player.
