SWITZERLAND'S exciting midfield prospect Xherdan Shaqiri struck just after halftime to secure a 1-0 win over host Denmark as the European Under-21 Championship finals kicked off on Saturday.
Shaqiri, who got rave reviews playing for the senior side in its 2-2 draw with England at Wembley in a Euro 2012 qualifier a week ago, netted three minutes after the break in Aalborg. Denmark wasted several late chances in the Group A clash. Belarus took all three points with a 2-0 win over Iceland in the opening game.
