Sino-Russian match

The 2015 China-Russia Youth Chess Match of Friendship is currently on in Shanghai.

It provides young players from both countries a platform to communicate as well as to challenge world class chess players like former two time women’s world champion Hou Yifan and current European champion Evgeniy Najer. The winning team in Russia’s school chess league, the Belaya Ladya tournament — St Petersburg No. 2 Middle School — along with some under-14 players from other Russian cities are testing their skills against their Chinese counterparts during the three-day tournament, which ends today. Meanwhile, the tournament witnessed the signing of a trilateral memorandum on cooperation in the development of junior chess in Russia and China by the Chinese Chess Association, the Russian Chess Federation and the Elena and Gennady Timchenko Charitable Foundation.
