Star hurdler Liu Xiang marries actress

Chinese hurdler Liu Xiang has married and speculation is rife over who one of the country’s most eligible bachelors has married as some reports say his new bride is actress Ge Tian.
Liu Xuegen, his father, told local media that his famous son and daughter-in–law had registered their marriage on Sunday, news portal Sina.com reported today.
The hurdler unveiled a picture with his wife for the first time on his microblog this morning. According to the picture, his wife appeared to be Ge, who is based in Beijing.
Liu’s father declined to give more information about his daughter-in-law, only saying she is a “common girl.”
Born in 1990, Ge works for a drama group belonging to the political department of the People’s Liberation Army’s air force.
In the picture Liu posted, the couple was leaning against a hurdle at a running track. Liu wrote “this (hurdle) and her are my favorite.”
A netizen posted a picture on Monday featuring Liu and a young woman holding flowers and walking out of the Putuo District civil service bureau. Some media had been waiting at the bureau this morning since Liu’s father had said the registration would be today. However, Liu and his bride were not seen as of noon.
Oriental Morning Post reported the registration was completed on Sunday, citing an unnamed civil service bureau employee.
