Sui, Han soar

China’s Sui Wenjing and Han Cong finished a creditable second in pairs at Skate Canada on Saturday. Sui and Han wowed the crowd at Saint John, New Brunswick, with a rarely seen quadruple twist lift but it was not enough to overtake Italy’s Stefania Berton and Ondrej Hotarek, who won with 193.92 points. Sui and Han finished on 193.77, with Canadians Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford, the leaders after the short program, taking bronze at 190.62. The men’s title went to Canada’s Patrick Chan while 15-year-old Russian sensation Julia Lipnitskaia took the women’s crown. Olympic champions Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir took the ice dance gold.
