Taylan fails test
TURKEY'S weightlifting federation said former Olympic champion Nurcan Taylan failed a drug test and faces a likely ban from the London Games. Federation head Hasan Akkus said Taylan tested positive on October 26 and a second test later confirmed the finding. He wouldn't disclose the banned substance. The 28-year-old Taylan must now defend herself at the International Weightlifting Federation, which could impose a four-year ban. Taylan won a gold medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics and set a world record in the 48kg class of the clean and jerk at last year's world championships.
