THE world's top 45 tennis players are to attend the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 in Shanghai this October.

Players including Roger Federer from Sweden, Scotland's Andy Murray; Spain's Rafael Nadal and Andy Roddick from the United States are on the list, Xinmin Evening News reported today.

The event will be held from October 10 to 18 in Shanghai Qizhong Forest Sports City Arena in Minhang District.

All the 56 competitors in the singles draw and 24 teams in doubles will compete for a total of US$3.24 million dollars in prize money, 1000 ATP ranking points and the right for attendance of the Tennis Master Cup at the end of the year.

Formula One moved the 2009 Chinese Grand Prix race to April this year in order to make way for the October tennis event.

Shanghai has held the year-end Tennis Masters Cup for five years. It will be held in London this year, according to ATP.

Ticket prices for the October event range from 120 yuan (US$17.6) to 1,580 yuan per match. Students will pay 30 yuan or 50 yuan. Season tickets are from 2,000 yuan to 4,500 yuan.
