Tour of Beijing set for October
THE International Cycling Union has approved a four-year race license for the Tour of Beijing, the first World Tour event in Asia.
The UCI confirms that the first Tour of Beijing will be held from October 5-9. UCI President Pat McQuaid said the race gives teams and sponsors a "unique opportunity" to develop their image. McQuaid has made the globalization of cycling a priority since becoming president in 2005. The UCI World Tour comprises 27 stage races and one-day classics to decide the annual rankings for riders, teams and countries.
