TURKEY'S Nurcan Taylan set a world record on Friday by lifting 121 kilograms in the clean and jerk in the women's 48kg category at the world weightlifting championships in Antalya, southern Turkey.
The previous record of 120kg was set by Chen Xiexia of China in 2007. Taylan was a gold medalist at the 2004 Olympics in Athens. Her compatriot Sibel Ozkan was the runner-up on Friday with Yuan Tian of China taking the bronze.
