WGC event moves to Mission Hills
THE World Golf Championship event in China will be hosted this year in Mission Hills.
The International Federation of PGA Tours announced the US$7 million WGC HSBC Champions will be played on October 29-November 4. The HSBC Champions started at the Sheshan International Golf Club in 2005 and was upgraded to a World Golf Championship event in 2009. Phil Mickelson is a two-time winner, while YE Yang, and Sergio Garcia have also won the title. Mission Hills in Shenzhen hosted the 1995 World Cup. Shanghai will host the US$7 million BMW Masters, a new event on the European Tour, from October 25-28.
