Wang joins Blue Jays, says report
WANG Chien-ming, a right-handed pitcher from Chinese Taipei who won 55 games over five years for the New York Yankees from 2005, has signed a contract with the Toronto Blue Jays, media reported yesterday.
Wang opted out of his minor league contract and was granted release by Major League Baseball on Friday, Fox Sports said on its website, citing a source. It said the Blue Jays are reportedly looking to have Wang start on Tuesday against the Chicago White Sox. The 33-year-old was 4-4 with a 2.33 ERA in nine starts at the New York Yankees' minor league affiliate Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders.
