Frenchman Armel Le Cleac’h has set a new record for a solo sail across the Mediterranean from Marseille to the Tunis suburb of Carthage, his back-up team said yesterday. Le Cleac’h covered the 458 nautical miles in his trimaran in a time of 18 hours, 58 minutes 13 seconds, slicing more than six hours off the previous fastest crossing set in September 2012.
