Brady tops Vick in Pro Bowl fan voting
TOM Brady has overtaken Michael Vick to lead all players in the final fan voting for the Pro Bowl.
The New England Patriots quarterback had nearly 1.9 million votes when balloting ended on Monday. The NFL said on Wednesday that Vick topped the NFC with more than 1.5 million.
Almost 100 million votes were cast online and via mobile phones.
Fans account for one-third of the selection process. Players and coaches were to vote on the following days.
The 43-man rosters will be announced next week.
Players leading their position voting include Houston Texans running back Arian Foster and wide receiver Andre Johnson, Pittsburgh Steelers strong safety Troy Polamalu and Indianapolis Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney.
The Pro Bowl is on January 30 in Honolulu.
Foster is the NFL's leading rusher with 1,345 yards. An undrafted rookie, Foster also leads the league in rushing touchdowns (13) and yards from scrimmage (1,895). He finished eighth overall in fan voting (710,166).
"That's a nice gesture that the fans showed towards me," Foster said on Wednesday. "It shows what they think about my game. It's humbling. It feels kind of good. It's nice to be recognized for the work that you've done."
Johnson, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, ranks fourth in yards receiving (1,216). Earlier this season, he became the first receiver in NFL history to catch at least 60 passes in his first eight seasons.
Foster and Johnson have been two of the few bright spots for the Texans (5-9).
