CAFL heads to Shanghai finale this weekend after thrilling fans in Shenzhen

THE fifth week of the inaugural China Arena Football League produced some high voltage action for fans in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, over the weekend.

Quarterback Dak Britt of Shenzhen Naja ran the pitch 25 times to cover 115 yards and had four touchdowns as the hosts defeated Qingdao Clippers 47-40 on Sunday. He set records for rushing attempts, yards and touchdowns.

On Saturday, Beijing Lions beat Guangzhou Power 55-32, thus remaining the only undefeated side in the league. Beijing quarterback Luke Collis was the most accurate passer in the CAFL with a completion percentage of 71.4 percent.

Shanghai Skywalkers eased past Dalian Dragon Kings 63-21.Quarterback Shane Austin threw three TD passes to give him a league best of 28. Wide receiver Mike Washington had eight receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown. He continues to lead the league with 40 receptions and 13 touchdowns.

The six teams will head to Shanghai this weekend when Beijing will take on Qingdao in the league’s championship “China Bowl” on November 6. The other four teams will compete for 3rd to 6th place finishes.
