Collingwood ties St Kilda in grand final
AUSTRALIAN football's grand final ended in a draw for just the third time yesterday after Collingwood and St Kilda played to a 68-68 tie in Melbourne.
Over 100,000 fans watched the game at the MCG, where Collingwood raced to an early lead before being pegged back by the Saints. The replay will be played at the same venue next Saturday, with extra time coming into play if necessary. The last AFL grand final to end in a draw was in 1977 when Collingwood drew with North Melbourne. Essendon and Melbourne drew in the 1948 final of the VFL, the AFL's predecessor.
