Eagles’ Foles ties NFL mark

Nick Foles didn’t know he had etched his name in National Football League history until after he came out of Philadelphia’s 49-20 win over the Raiders. That must have been because he was too busy shredding Oakland’s defense to keep up with his impressive statistics.

Foles equaled an NFL mark with seven touchdown passes and threw for 406 yards on Sunday to revitalize Philadelphia’s struggling offense.

“A couple people came up to me and said that I tied the record with seven touchdowns,” Foles said. “It’s a great honor. Hats off to our guys for doing a great job.”

The backup quarterback connected three times with Riley Cooper to become the seventh passer in NFL history with seven TD tosses in a game. Peyton Manning did it for Denver on opening night this season against Baltimore.

Foles also threw scoring passes to Brent Celek, Zach Ertz, LeSean McCoy and DeSean Jackson and the Eagles, with four wins from nine games, looked nothing like the offense that failed to score a TD in each of the past two weeks.

“Every defense the past couple of weeks has been stopping us,” McCoy said. “So today we were kind of feeling bottled up and we released everything. It’s tough when you’re not winning and you’re not putting points up.”

Also, the Kansas City Chiefs extended their winning stretch to nine games — equaling a club record to open the season — with a 23-13 result against the Buffalo Bills.

In the night game, the Indianapolis Colts rallied from an 18-point deficit to win 27-24 after Houston coach Gary Kubiak collapsed leaving the field at half-time and had to be taken to hospital.

The Texans didn’t reveal what was wrong with Kubiak, but did say he didn’t have a heart attack. The team said the 52-year-old was conscious and was with his family as he was taken to the hospital.

Andrew Luck got off to a slow start before throwing three second-half TDs to TY Hilton as the AFC South-leading Colts secured their sixth win in eight games.

Case Keenum threw for 350 yards and three TDs in his second career start, but had trouble moving the offense after halftime as the Texans, up 21-3 when Kubiak collapsed, lost their sixth straight.

Kubiak’s collapse came a day after Denver Broncos coach John Fox was hospitalized in North Carolina as he awaits aortic value replacement surgery. The 58-year-old Fox will have surgery in a few days and will miss several weeks while recuperating.

Elsewhere, it was: Cowboys 27, Vikings 23; Titans 28, Rams 21; Panthers 34, Falcons 10; Jets 26, Saints 20; Redskins 30, Chargers 24 (in overtime); Seahawks 27, Buccaneers 24 (OT); Browns 24, Ravens 18; and Patriots 55, Steelers 31.
