Favre fined
MINNESOTA Vikings quarterback Brett Favre was fined US$10,000 by the National Football League on Friday for an illegal "crack-back block" in a preseason game against the Houston Texans. Favre, who changed his mind about retiring during the offseason, was lined up at receiver when the Viking played a version of the "Wildcat" offense and lunged at defensive back Eugene Wilson with a banned low challenge to the legs. The challenge is considered particularly dangerous and Wilson injured his knee.
