Newton inks extension

ALL-STAR quarterback Cam Newton has signed a multi-million dollar, five-year contract extension with the Carolina Panthers, the National Football League club said on Tuesday.
Media reported that the deal is worth US$103.8 million, US$60 million of that guaranteed. Newton led the Panthers to a second consecutive NFC South title despite a 7-8-1 record and guided the team to their first playoff win in almost a decade last season. In 14 games, he finished with 3,127 passing yards, 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
